Tall building study
Urban Initiatives has been advising the borough on the management of building heights for many years, guiding the location, height and design of tall buildings, managing both their relationship with the streets and spaces at ground level and also the character and appreciation of the skyline in both local and strategic views. Much of our work has focused on the iconic Canary Wharf cluster.
We have provided the evidence base for the borough’s tall buildings policies, supported the Council through Local Plan examination and in tall buildings appeals. We have also carried out a detailed characterisation of the whole borough using a range of data sources brought together in GIS to establish conserve, enhance and transform areas and their potential for growth.
